So many things run through my mind when I think of this topic. But one of the greatest things I’ve mediated on from God’s word is Matthew 5:16.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
In 2016, I attended my boyfriends high school graduation. His graduating class was way larger compared to mine, and I went for him and a cousin of mine who went to the same school. Right in the middle of calling the names for diplomas, the power to the whole football stadium went completely out. We were in complete darkness. Then, slowly at first, lights began to appear all over the stadium. It was flashlights from thousands of people’s smartphones. I went home that night with the verse in Matthew on my mind. And this thought:
“How many of us keep our lights in our pockets?”
How many Christians keep their Christianity in their pocket, never to share it with anyone? Immediately, a blog post began forming in my mind. And I wrote Is Your Light in Your Pocket . Which to this day is still one of my favorite blog posts I’ve written. And Matthew 5 is still one of my favorite passages.
